American Idol alum, Carrie Underwood sings the National Anthem at the 2010 Super Bowl --very impressive performance, ---video below:

It's a star-studded Olympic-themed episode of NBC's "The Biggest Loser: Couples" on Tuesday, February 9 (8-10 p.m. ET) when the hit series kicks off the Olympic Winter Games with guest appearances by several superstar athletes. Olympic gold medalist and alpine skier Julia Mancuso, freestyle skier Jeret "Speedy" Peterson and speedskater J.R. Celski guest star, along with pairs figure skater Rockne Brubaker, Paralympic gold medalist skier and silver medalist cyclist Alison Jones and Paralympic biathlete Kelly Underkofler. "The Biggest Loser: Couples" will be pre-empted by the Olympic Winter Games after the February 9 episode, but will return on Tuesday, March 2 (8-10 p.m. ET).

This week, the contestants get a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to live and train like Olympians at the U.S. Olympic Training Center (OTC) in Colorado Springs, Colo. After arriving at the training center, host Alison Sweeney tells them they will now be competing as individuals - and that this week, two players will be eliminated instead of one. The contestant with the lowest percentage of weight loss will be eliminated automatically, and then one of the two players who fall below the yellow line will be sent home as well.

Helping to welcome them to the training center is five-time Paralympian Alison Jones, who has won a gold medal and two silver medals for skiing as well as a silver medal in cycling. After each player gets a chance to carry the torch down the Olympic pathway, Jones lights the cauldron and the games begin!

First they find a great surprise waiting for them in each of their rooms, and then they head to the OTC dining hall, where they meet with two U.S. Olympic Committee nutritionists and learn what America's top athletes eat during training. Then it's off to the gym, where trainers Bob Harper and Jillian Michaels are joined by gold medalist alpine skier Julia Mancuso and freestyle aerial skier Jeret "Speedy" Peterson to help put the contestants through a workout they'll never forget. Meanwhile, one player struggles with feelings of unworthiness about whether last week's eliminated contestant deserves to be in the competition more than he does.

Next up, the contestants meet Sweeney in the gym for a fun pop challenge involving slide boards while first-time Olympian and short track speedskater J.R. Celski gives them a pep talk and cheers them on. Then it's off to the beautiful Garden of the Gods state park, where they meet with Paralympic biathlete Kelly Underkofler. She puts the contestants through a "Biggest Loser" version of the biathlon, one of the most difficult challenges in the Olympic Winter Games.

Finally, it's time for a last chance workout at 24 Hour Fitness with two-time U.S. figure skating national champion Rockne Brubaker. Then their exciting week comes to an end with the weekly weigh-in, and two more players headed for elimination.

Olympic gold medalist figure skater Scott Hamilton makes a special appearance in this week's Pound For Pound Challenge segment, volunteering his time at the Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. Hamilton will be a commentator for figure skating at the Olympic Winter Games. Viewers can go to www.biggestloser.com now and for every pound of weight loss pledged, a pound of groceries will be delivered to a local food bank. More than 3.7 million pounds have been pledged to date.

It’s hard to believe that a man who has gorgeous women throwing themselves at him on national television ever had trouble finding a date. But that’s exactly how it was for heartthrob pilot Jake Pavelka, the current star of ABC’s hit series The Bachelor. During a romantic one-on-one date with contestant Gia Allemand at a vineyard, Jake sheepishly admitted that his nickname in high school was “Mr. Dateless.”

He wasn’t exaggerating. “I was just shy around girls at that age,” Jake tells Life & Style  “I tended to be bullied in the seventh, eighth and ninth grades.” And while he’s a catch now, there’s one person who wasn’t surprised to hear that Jake had a tough time with the ladies when he was younger. “The time that I spent with Jake, I could see that he was probably very shy in high school,” recently eliminated contestant Ella Nolan tells Life & Style.

But that’s not stopping Jake from trying to find love on TV’s most popular reality dating show. “I’m not looking for the most beautiful woman out there,” he told Life & Style. “But I’m looking for a heart of gold — and character, lots of character.”

Jillian Harris, star of the most recent fifth edition of "The Bachelorette," joined the design team of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" as a special guest designer during the episode entitled "Skaggs Family," which began shooting on Monday. The episode will air later this season on ABC.

"I have been an adoring fan of the series for years and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to work with such an amazing team. I feel so blessed to be a part of this project with 'Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.' Because of the constant love I receive from my family, friends, and now fans, I have always felt like my heart was just bursting with love and hope for others in need. I couldn't think of a better place or a better way to give back; to give love, support, and hope. I really feel like the world needs a lot of love right now, and to be a part of this and see others give their time and love so generously, it is truly inspiring," said Harris.

Said Anthony Dominici, executive producer: "We're thrilled to have Jillian with us as a special guest designer and be a part of the show. People know Jillian as a great personality, but they may not realize that she's an incredible designer too -- she's done restaurants and custom furniture for years. But now it's time for her to put those skills to the test and help Ty and the team build and decorate a home for a deserving family in just a week!"

In Harris' episode, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will travel to Slaughterville, Oklahoma, to meet Brian and Audra Skaggs, whose son, Jhett, survived a heart transplant at just 10 months old. Although he's made incredible progress over the past two years, the poor condition of the family's moldy, rotting, termite-ridden home poses serious risks to Jhett's weakened immune system. In seven days, "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" will build a safe and healthy home for Jhett, 2, his sister Merit, 5, and his parents, a home that will allow the family to focus on each other instead of their deteriorating surroundings.

Fan favorite Jillian Harris charmed America with her irrepressible humor and emotional honesty on ABC's "The Bachelor" and "The Bachelorette." Since finding her soul mate, Ed Swiderski, on "The Bachelorette," the happy couple enjoys cooking together, singing karaoke and spending time with family and friends. Now Jillian brings more than 10 years' experience in the hospitality and restaurant design industry to "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" as a special guest designer. A self proclaimed "polished redneck" who is not afraid to get her hands dirty or climb a ladder with heels on, Jillian carefully combines the frivolous with the sensible -- a brilliant mix between low brow and high brow. Her extensive background provides a unique perspective to both front-of-house and back-of-house operations as they relate to restaurant and interior design, and will be a valuable asset to the "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" design team.

Outside of her work in television, Jillian continues to jet back to Canada to run her firm, Jillian Harris Design, where she is currently launching a furniture division featuring custom-made 18th century dining and lounge pieces. In her free time, Jillian is penning a book based on her infamous "hot dog theory" and dating experience. While she and Ed enjoy taking in the fine architecture, culture and cuisine of Chicago, they also actively dedicate their energy to charities, from supporting no-kill animal shelters and recycling initiatives to sitting on the board of Big Brother Big Sisters.

Sneak peek of the next episode of The Bachelor, to air 2/8---Jake meets Vienna's dad and talks to him about dating his daughter. Clip and press release below:

The stakes are high for Jake as he leaves his Los Angeles home for an exciting, emotionally charged journey across the country to visit the final four women's hometowns. Why is Gia afraid of falling in love? How will Ali's mother judge Jake in comparison to her past boyfriends? Is Tenley really ready for a new relationship after her tough divorce? And what part will Vienna's father play in the drama between Jake and his daughter? Just when Jake feels confident of his next decision, one bachelorette turns everything upside down in a single, gut-wrenching moment, leaving Jake reeling, on "The Bachelor: On the Wings of Love," MONDAY, FEBRUARY 8 (8:00-10:00 p.m., ET) on the ABC Television Network.

Jake is looking forward to meeting the four bachelorettes' families and learning more about the women he's falling in love with. His first stop is New York to visit Gia and her family. The couple take in the Big Apple's sites on a romantic boat ride down the Hudson River. During their excursion, Jake learns about Gia's insecurities and why she's been so reticent about falling in love. At a Manhattan restaurant, Jake meets Gia's protective family. She can only hope that they'll approve of Jake, and that will give her the confidence to finally let her guard down.

Next Jake journeys to Williamstown, Massachusetts to see Ali. This is a bittersweet trip home for Ali. The last time she visited her hometown was for her grandmother's funeral. At dinner with her family, Ali is most concerned about her mother's opinion. In the past, her mom has been able to tell which of Ali's boyfriends were right for her by seeing how they act together. Will she like what she sees?

A cross country trip lands Jake in Newberg, Oregon, to meet Tenley and her family. Having been burned by her ex-husband in the past, Tenley grills Jake about what he would be like as a husband. After a touching visit to Tenley's old dance studio, the couple head off to meet her family. Jake is the first guy Tenley has brought home since her divorce, and they need to ask him some very tough questions. But Jake also has some things on his mind. He wants them to assure him that Tenley is over her divorce and ready for a new relationship.

For the last hometown date, Jake heads down south to Geneva, Florida, to visit Vienna for an unusual boat trip through swamp waters filled with crocodiles. Vienna confesses that she's a "daddy's girl" and that her dad has never really liked any guy she's brought home. And this time is no different. Vienna's father immediately puts Jake on the hot seat. Can Jake impress her dad and prove he's good enough for daddy's "princess?"

As Jake returns to Los Angeles for the rose ceremony, he's certain of his next decision. But nothing has prepared him for what happens next. One bachelorette makes a surprise visit to his room, disclosing a totally unexpected shocking revelation, which leaves Jake reeling. In a season filled with surprises, there is another huge one: for the first time in "Bachelor" history, there will be no rose ceremony.

The four women are:

Ali, 25, an advertising account manager from Williamstown, MA
Gia, 26, a swimsuit model from New York, NY
Tenley, 25, a college admissions representative from Newberg, OR
Vienna, 23, a marketing representative from Sanford, FL

The Grammys are known as the music industry’s biggest night, but on Jan. 31, all country superstar Carrie Underwood seemed to be thinking of was her big day. When asked on the red carpet whether she and pro hockey player Mike Fisher, who got engaged in December, have set a date yet, Carrie excitedly replied, “Not officially; we’re kind of bouncing a few around.” She also reported that her mother and Mike’s mom had just met for the first time. “His parents live in Canada and mine live in Oklahoma,” she explained. “They got to hang out. I think they’re both very excited,” she said recently.

Consider the groom equally revved up. Days earlier, when talking to Life & Style  via phone from his room at the Ritz-Carlton in Boston on Jan. 22, Mike shared three points he and Carrie have already agreed on. “It’s going to be a good size wedding with plenty of good food and an open bar,” he told Life & Style. “But nothing too overblown. It’s still in the planning stages, so a lot of the details haven’t been finalized.” He admitted that his fiancĂ©e would be handling most of the specifics. “As you might expect, Carrie’s involved in a lot of the details,” he said, adding with a laugh, “I’ll just be showing up.”

Carrie already has a clear idea of how she wants to look when she and Mike tie the knot. Her dream dress? “I want it to be pretty traditional,” she’s explained. “I think I want flowers on it — not real flowers. [The designer will] probably be someone I’ve worked with before.” Is someone already sewing away? “We can’t even think about her wedding yet,” Carrie’s stylist, Trish Townsend, told Life & Style on Feb. 1. “We just got through the Grammys. Next is the Super Bowl — she’s singing the national anthem.” Roberto de Villacis, who designed one of Carrie’s looks for the 2009 Country Music Awards and dressed the star for the video of her 2009 hit “Cowboy Casanova,” says he’d be thrilled to do the honors. “I love designing for Carrie,” De Villacis tells Life & Style. “Since meeting her, I’ve been thinking about her wedding dress. Carrie’s sweet, feminine, romantic. I’d propose a glamorous Southern-belle gown in French Chantilly lace with a floral pattern. She’s petite, so the best silhouette would be a long and lean flute.”

For more details on Carrie’s dream wedding, pick up the new issue of Life & Style, on newsstands now!

The former Big Brother 11 contestants and couple are back at it again on The Amazing Race 16, and not much has changed because she still can’t tell time. “There were moments like my asking what time we have to be there and her refusing to learn what ‘a quarter till’ is,”  Jeff Schroeder told EW.com.
“A third grader knows what ‘a quarter till’ is. Can you learn it? Maybe in the next couple of days?” And the two of them aren’t doing much on-camera canoodling. “We’re not being so lovey-dovey, which is what everybody wants us to be,” says Jordan Lloyd. “There was one point when I was mad at him and he was mad at me. He was ready to strangle me.”

The couple can’t give discuss specifics, though Lloyd recalls having some concerns about the show’s physical demands. “I don’t like to work out. Everybody knows that. If I work out one day, I want to see results and so yeah I was worried,” she says. “Though I was more so worried about having to eat a bug or something. I would rather Jeff eat a bug than me.” When asked if the two ever got hurt, Schroeder would only say, “We are in perfect health right now.”

And apparently, so is their relationship. Though the couple definitely had their share of spats on the course, Schroeder insists their bond remains strong. “To throw a couple into a stressful situation like this, you are going to see different sides to both people,” says Schroeder. “We definitely didn’t stray from who we are. We got along, we got through it and we’re still together. It made us stronger, I think.” And now their goal is to eventually end up in the same state. “This is the longest we’ve gone without being together,” says Schroeder. “One of us has to move … I’m not saying anyone’s getting engaged though, anything like that.”

Reality-TV star Bethenny Frankel has a sexy fiancĂ© ready to take her out on the town and a new baby — due in June — to prepare for. But she still takes the time to enjoy a ladies’ night with her pals every now and then. The best part of her girls-only evenings? Saving money by doing it at someone’s house or apartment.

“Rather than waiting for a man to buy you a drink or spending money eating at an expensive restaurant, stay at home and reconnect with your girlfriends,” Bethenny told L&S  while hosting her own mini soiree on Jan. 22. “It’s a chance to really let loose. Plus, you get to choose the food and the music.”

Even if you have a boyfriend or a husband, Bethenny adds, “it gives you a chance to air your issues about your relationship so you don’t kill your partner.” Most of all, Bethenny stresses, “it’s about women taking charge of their lives. They’ve earned their night in, and they’re going to make the most of it.”
